Stephen Ministry Opportunity

Our Stephen Ministers provide confidential one-to one Christian care for people experiencing crises and transitions. Some Stephen Ministers also take on additional responsibilities of leading grief groups and visiting shut-ins and hospital patients.

Prospective Stephen Ministers are selected after an application and interview process.  Basic requirements for Stephen Ministers are:

  • 50 hours of training
  • Availability to visit another person regularly and to dependably offer Christian support and care.
  • After commissioning, attendance at continuing education once per month and supervision sessions twice a month.
  • A minimum of two years of service to the congregation as a Stephen Minister

Being a Stephen Minister requires a commitment of time and energy, but is a unique experience, providing unusual spiritual satisfaction as you answer your calling to serve others in Christ. It will offer you the privilege of caring for persons experiencing crises and transitions and equip you with caring skills that will apply to all your relationships.

Applications are expected to be available in Summer 2014 with a new training class to begin in Fall 2014.
