Funerals

Are you grieving a loss? Church at the Crossing offers pastoral care for grieving families and friends. Following a death, pastors are available to meet with you and your family and to lead a Christian memorial service. You can also expect to be offered continuing support through Stephen Ministers and Grief Groups.

To contact a pastor, call the church at 317.844.9355.  After office hours, you can reach a pastor through the church's emergency phone at 317.721.CATC (2282).

Timely information about deaths in our church family

For those who wish to know when there has been a death in our church family, there will be a listing of that information here on the Funerals page of the CATC website. With the permission of families, we will also include funeral details.

Compassionate Friends

Church families need special care when a loved one dies. Fortunately, there are many ways we can support them through such difficult times. For just one example, we usually prepare a meal for the family and their close friends after a memorial service at the church. If you feel a nudge to serve grieving families, would you be willing to add your name to the list of people who are "on call" to help with funeral meals and other practical ways of expressing the church’s care for them? Here are a few ways you could help:

  • Planning and organizing funeral meals
  • Preparing and serving food
  • Managing the kitchen
  • Cleaning up after funeral meals
  • Welcoming grieving families and their guests
  • Receiving floral arrangements as they arrive

If this is a way in which you feel called to serve, or if you would like more information, please contact Mandy Baldwin at 844.9355 ext. 39.

Pre-planning for your memorial service

From time to time, people in the church are interested in talking with pastors about their own funeral arrangements. They often wonder what questions they should be asking about planning their funeral, especially when they want to have their memorial services at the church. If you find yourself asking these sorts of questions, you are welcome to call a pastor to schedule a conversation about that.
