In the Interim

We started the process several months ago to find our next Senior Pastor for Church at the Crossing, and the Search Committee wants you to know that we are making great progress, that we have confidence in where it is leading, and that we'd like you to join us in supportive prayers.

Our process started by selecting N.L. Moore & Associates as consultants to guide us and conduct a survey that assessed our church's needs through both quantitative and qualitative assessments. We took that information and used it to shape a profile of what our ideal pastoral candidate would look like, and published an opportunity description to tell the world what we were looking for.

After screening more than 200 candidates and conducting 30+ live interviews, N.L. Moore brought us a slate of 5 candidates. We conducted the first round of interviews via Skype the week of August 20 and will be continuing conversations with 3 candidates. We are excited to move to the next phase which includes face-to-face interviews in September.

I've been asked, "How do you know you're on the right track?" and this is where we have to trust that the Lord has plans for us and is with us in every step of the process. I'm reminded how God works: "But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart'" (1 Samuel 16:7 NIV).

We are looking at everything we can as men and women to learn what we can, but we have to trust that God is going to show up and speak to us and to our candidate. My prayer now is that as we enter into our coming interviews, that God would tap us on the shoulder or whisper in our ears when the one He has chosen is in front of us. Would you join us in praying specifically for these coming meetings, that we would hear His voice clearly to know whom we are to anoint for the next season for our church?

We are so grateful for the service and leadership of Dr. David Sebastian as Interim Senior Pastor.

As we continue in the search process for the next Senior Pastor, members of our pastoral staff will be on point for Sunday teaching: Pastor Erin Taylor, Pastor Bruce Hazel, Pastor Nabil Safi, Youth Ministry Director Abbie Craig, and Spiritual Formation Director Kylee Larson.

Sunday, February 26, 2017, was Senior Pastor Steve Rennick's last Sunday at Church at the Crossing.

We are so grateful for his 14 years of service and leadership in our church family, and our prayers are with him and his family as they move into a new chapter of ministry. Pastor Steve has been called to a new role as State Pastor for the Church of God in Colorado, and will be planting new churches, multiplying existing churches, and mobilizing all churches for greater mission.
