“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
-2 Chronicles 7:14
For the 21 days between January 13 - February 2, together as a church family, we will dedicate ourselves to seeking God through prayer and fasting. Fasting changes us, not only physically, but spiritually! Fasting heightens our awareness of God’s presence and draws us closer to him.
The purpose for fasting is to create time and space in our lives for more of God.
Fasting is more than a diet or physical discipline. It is a spiritual practice that removes food, redirects our attention, restores our souls, and renews our faith in God. By creating more time and space for the Lord, you are allowing him to accelerate your faith and transform you.
Followers of Jesus have practiced fasting for centuries. Fasting is abstaining from certain foods for a period of time to seek God in prayer. In Matthew chapter four, Jesus spent 40 days alone in the wilderness to fast and pray. During this period, he overcame temptation, and God prepared him for his public ministry.
The Prayer & Fasting Guide contains more information for fasting including FAQs, types of fasting plans, and a daily scripture and prayer guide.
